3 YEARS IN OFFICE: Alex Otti Highlights Achievements as Abia Reconstructs 400 Roads

Governor Alex Otti of Abia state says his administration is rebuilding trust on governance in the state as over four hundred roads have been reconstructed since assumption of office.

Governor Otti who announced this during the May edition of the monthly Media Parley, Governor Otti Speaks” reviewed key achievements so far in the last three years in office.

Governor Otti pointed out that road construction remained a major priority of his administration due to its direct impact on economic activities, social development among other gains.

He expressed joy that the debt profile of the state had reduced by 60 per cent, from N121 billion in 2023 to below N50 billion by the end of 2025.

Governor Otti explained that his administration has recovered assets and properties belonging to the state government which were illegally acquired by individuals and that the state government has criminalised the unauthorised acquisition of government property in addition to strengthening legal frameworks to reclaim state assets.

The Governor explained that since his stay in office, 4,077 Certificates of Occupancy have been signed and described the development as a major step towards improving land administration and boosting investor confidence.

Answering questions from Journalists, Governor Otti said that the government was still working to ascertain the number of mineral deposits in the state, pointing out that mineral resources are on the exclusive legislative list, hence under the Federal Government’s control.

On the influx of herders in some communities in the state the Governor cautioned against profiling people based on ethnicity, citing the Hausa community in Umunneochi as well as the Yoruba and Hausa communities in Aba as examples of groups that had lived peacefully in Abia for decades.
On agriculture, Governor Otti announced that the government would soon inaugurate a completed poultry farm the state while works are ongoing on other projects noting that such projects are better handled with private sector partners.
He stressed the need for residents to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, describing the Permanent Voter’s Card as critical for participation in every electoral process

He further urged the residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies as his administration remained committed to ensuring safety and enabling the environment for all residents.
